Physician Leadership Training:
Specialist Services Committee Shared Care Committee SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION LEADERSHIP TRAINING
PURPOSE:
Further to the Health Authority Systems Redesign initiative announced in May 2010, and to promote or further work being undertaken within each Health Authority, the Specialist Services Committee (SSC) and Shared Care Committee (SCC) have committed to fund scholarships for training of physicians to enhance the redesign experience and outcomes.
CRITERIA:
- SSC scholarship funding is for available for Specialist Physicians who are certificants or fellows of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- SCC scholarship funding is available for General Practitioners and General Practitioners with specialized training.
- The scholarship fund is for the successful completion of training for leadership activities approved by the Health Authority.
- Maximum funding of up to $10,000 per physician is available to cover actual tuition fees and lowest reasonable cost of travel. Submission of receipts will be required for reimbursement.
- As part of the scholarship funding, physicians may be expected to participate in a scholarship program evaluation.
- Time/compensation for attendance is excluded from funding.
- Endorsement is required from the Health Authority prior to the final approval of the sub-committee. The maximum program funding of each Committee is $250,000.
PROCESS:
- Interested physicians should complete the application form and submit to the Vice President of Medicine at their respective Health Authority for endorsement.
- Endorsed applications will be submitted to the sub-committee funding approval.
